For the last four days, I have been exploring majestic waterfalls, glistening glaciers and the astounding landscapes of Iceland so I wanted to share a few tips if you are thinking about going there!
First of all, the waterfalls should be high up on your bucket list! I was lucky enough to see a rainbow on two of the waterfalls and it was breathtaking. My favourite one was definitely Seljalandsfoss as you could hike around it (be sure to bring a raincoat!) and you could even walk up to the top of it. Also, just a few minutes walk from it is Gljúfrafoss- a secret waterfall located inside a cave. It is very secluded and wasn't crowded at all.
Next, the Fridheimar & Stable were also really interesting and the horses were of course adorable!! Fridheimar is a tomato farm which may not sound interesting at first, but it is really cool inside and learning about how they grow the tomatoes was actually fascinating, We tried some of their tomato soup and it was so delicious! Their restaurant sells cool food such as 'tomato ice-cream' (have you ever tried this?) and many other things which all sounded very yummy!!
The Reykjanes peninsula was also a highlight of the trip. We learnt about geothermal heating and admired the stunning and vibrant views. But, be careful- it did actually smell of egg in some parts because of the sulphur!
Overall, Iceland should definitely be high on your bucket list as it is such a unique experience and unlike any other places that I have travelled to!
p.s, have you ever been to Iceland?
